Can I really train a dog by myself?

When Should I Start Training my New Puppy? This varies somewhat, but after a short adjustment period to his/her new home training should begin right away. What About Training Older Dogs? Again this varies, hopefully they already have learned the basics and have been housebroken/potty trained, but other bad habits may already be instilled and more patience is required, but above 10 years mental and/or physical problems could interfere. Can I use Dog Treats? Food is a strong motivator as is loving/attention when commands are followed I like to use both:)

How Long Should Training Exercises Last?
Of course the age comes into play again, in most cases 2 - 3 times a day with each exercise being no longer than 10-15 minutes to start. With younger dogs/puppies shorter the training time should be. For optimal results, start in an area with few distractions.

What tools do I need for training?
A six foot leash and collar that's fitted properly (be sure the collar is tight enough to avoid slipping off). Flexi or retractable leashes for basic obedience training should be avoided at first. Treats or toys, and water. be in a good-mood, extra patience and a calm but assertive attitude.
